Deadlines24x7 On Soorya Festival

Deadlines 24x7 to bescreened in the video festival on The 33rd edition of Soorya Festival, one of the biggest and longest cultural festivals in the world, will begin in Thiruvananthapuram from September 21. More than 1,500 artistes from different parts of the country will participate in the 111 day festival, which ends on January 10, 2010 with a grand finale at Tagore theatre.

This year, the festival will spread out to all districts in the state, besides places like Chennai, Pondicherry, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and New Delhi. Some of the main segments of the festival this year are events in dance, music, film, theatre and video shows.

The theatre festival will include three plays directed by Soorya Krishna Moorthy. The dance and music festival, to be held from October 1 to 10, will feature eminent artistes like Yesudas, Padma Subramanyam, Sanjay Subramanyam and Shobhana.

The film festival will showcase popular and critically-acclaimed movies in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi like Slumdog Millionaire, Bhramaram, Oru Pennum Randaanum, Bhoomi Malayalam,Delhi 6, Bhagya Devatha, Fashion and Subramaniapuram. Four films directed by Satyajit Ray will be screened in the 'Meet the Masters' segment, beginning on November 22.
